Gujarat solar auction sees winning tariff of Rs 2.65/unit

A reverse auction of 500 MW of solar projects held by the Gujarat government on Tuesday saw the lowest winning bid at Rs 2.65 per kwH. This was the first solar auction held after the two conducted by Solar Corporation of India in May, when one of the winning bidders had promised to sell power at a record low of Rs 2.44 per kwH.

Let states’ green power purchase quota be the floor: Karnataka to Centre

Karnataka has written to the central government suggesting that the quota of renewable energy states are mandated to buy should be considered as the minimum requirement, a move that may encourage greater use of alternative sources of power. All states have set themselves renewable purchase obligation (RPO) targets, ranging from 5% to 10% of the power they consume annually, to be acquired from sources such as solar and wind energy projects.

The apex pollution regulator has framed standards for sulphur and nitrate oxides for 16 industries that use inferior quality fuel that releases these pollutants.

NGT asks states to follow order on polluting industries

The National Green Tribunal on Monday (September 18) lashed out at the states for failing to comply with its orders regarding polluting industries. Nalco to tap renewable energy for power requirements

National Aluminium Company (Nalco) is betting big on renewable energy resources to meet its rising power requirements.
