India can generate around 18,000 Megawatt (Mw) of renewable energy using biomass and an additional 7000-8000 MW from bagasse cogeneration in sugar mills, power and renewable energy minister R K Singh has said. Root out plastic bag less than 50 microns: National Green Tribunal

The National Green Tribunal has asked Central Pollution Control Board to ensure that no plastic bag less than 50 microns of thickness be manufactured, stocked, sold and used across the country. UP govt clears plan to induct 700 electric buses in 14 cities across state

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday cleared a proposal for operation of electric buses as part of the public transport system in 14 cities across the state. UP Cabinet Minister Sidharth Nath Singh told reporters here that the electric buses will be inducted to boost sustainable means of transport. "PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Private Limited Consortium was chosen in the tender process. In UP, 700 such electric buses will be operated. One bus will cost Rs 1.25 crore. Lithium Urban eyes EVs from BYD, MG Motor

Lithium Urban Technologies Pvt. Ltd is set to acquire electric buses and sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) to expand its fleet and enter new segments, said the co-founder and chief executive of the electric vehicle fleet operator. India’s fight against deadly air pollution may come with an unintended consequence: increased emissions of greenhouse gases. Soft Bank sister firm to invest USD 4 bn in renewable energy in Gujarat

SB Energy, a sister company of Soft Bank of Japan, has announced that it will invest USD 4 billion or Rs 30,000 crore in renewable energy sector in Gujarat, a state government release said on Friday.
