Inox Wind bags 100 Megawatt project from Adani Green Energy

Wind turbine maker Inox Wind today said it had bagged an order from Adani Green Energy to develop a 100 MW wind power project in Gujarat.

"The company has closed a deal for developing a 100 MW wind power project for Adani Green Energy, a part of the Adani group at Kutch in Gujarat," Inox Wind said in a regulatory filing.

"The capacity was won under the round 1 of SECI bids for wind power projects connected on the central grid. The project is scheduled to be executed over the next 6-9 months and will be executed on a turnkey basis".

Freyr Energy ties up with Axis Bank

Solar energy services company Freyr Energy has tied up with Axis Bank to offer term loans ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹50 lakh for tenures up to five years,for solar rooftop installations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The loans will be given to MSMEs and self-employed individuals to install Freyr rooftop solar plants for industrial and commercial purposes.

PMC uses cycle funds for waste management

The general body of the Pune Municipal Corporation has diverted about Rs10 crore from the budget allocated to the proposed bicycle plan for carrying out cleaning work in wards, prompting criticism from the patrons of sustainable transport in the city.

Bringing solar heating to the remotest corners of India

In remote parts of the Zanskar valley in Jammu and Kashmir where temperatures regularly fall below freezing women still collect dung to keep their hearths warm.

A new project supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) aims to change that, by installing solar panels that provide room heating and water heating.

Smart solar lamp for museum campus

The capital city may soon boast about being the first city in the country to have solar energy-powered street lamps, which can be monitored and maintained from a distance using remote sensing technology.

A city-based private company has already given a proposal to the state local self-government department to install the innovative lamps which work on a technology platform with pre-set timers to automatically switch it on and off, at public places including parks and roads.

Mitsui teams to construct small solar farms in India

Mitsui & Co. looks to build small-scale solar farms in regions of India that lack access to electricity or have an unreliable supply.

The Japanese trading house will invest nearly 1 billion yen ($9.11 million) in OMC Power, an electricity company based southwest of New Delhi in Gurugram.

OMC has built 75 solar farms, which provide electricity to telecom base stations formerly powered by diesel. Cellphone use has spread in much of India, even in communities that lack access to the grid. The company distributes excess electricity to nearby homes, schools and shops.

Vaisala boosting solar services in India

Global environmental and industrial analysis firm Vaisala said it was expanding its solar sector operations in India due to demand with plans to double its workforce in the country by the end of 2017.

SPPU shortlists 200 colleges to implement solar energy systems

Within just three days, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) closed applications meant for the installation of solar projects. The varsity had called for applications from its affiliated colleges on Wednesday, which were earlier supposed to be open till September 25, in order to install rooftop solar panels on their premises. But, they have now been stopped as it received more than 700 applications, out of which 200 have been approved.

Actis Energy Fund-backed Arinsun Clean Energy Private Limited will develop a 250-Mw solar park at a cost of $200 million at the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is planning to back the project.

The project was won by Solenergi Power Private Ltd (SPPL), a company instituted under ACTIS Energy Fund 4, within the 750-MWac Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.

MNRE signs agreement with Germany to improve renewable energy grid Integration

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) signed an agreement on technical cooperation under the “Indo-German Energy Programme – Green Energy Corridors (IGEN-GEC)” with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) today.

Indian Energy Exchange all powered up to launch IPO by December

Private equity-backed Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) aims to hit the capital market with its initial public offering before December, which would make it the first energy exchange to be listed in the country, managing director Satyanarayan Goel said.

Tata Power Renewable boosts generation capacity by four-fold

Tata Power today said its renewable energy arm enhanced the generation capacity by over four-fold last fiscal.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) generated 1,440 million units (MUs) from renewable energy sources like wind and solar in 2016-17 as compared to 329 million units in 2015 -16, the company said in a statement.

TPREL is the primary vehicle through which Tata Power's investments in renewable energy capacity are driven and it proposes to grow its capacity through organic and inorganic means over the next few years.

Wind power tariff in Tamil Nadu drops to 3.42/unit, lowest in country

The cost of wind power in Tamil Nadu has fallen to 3.42 per unit, the lowest in the country. The price now is 4 paise lower than that quoted in the Union renewable power ministry's wind power tender bid. On Monday, when the wind power price bids were opened, Tangedco found ReGen Power Tech Company had bid for 3.42 per unit for a capacity of 200MW.

Premier think-tank Niti Aayog has set for the government an ambitious goal of 100 giga watt of clean energy by 2019-20 and wants financial provision for generation and infrastructure rather than just capacity creation.

Mahagenco invites bids for 200 MW solar plant

Waste-to-energy plants can tackle pile-up, says Niti Aayog

The Niti Aayog has suggested setting up an authority which will take up installation of “waste-to-energy” plants in public-private partnership (PPP) mode to clean up municipal solid waste, which, it said, has become a “serious threat” to public health.

IL&FS plans bond issue to refinance Rs6,000 crore debt

Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS) plans to hit the domestic bond market to refinance almost Rs6,000 crore (about $940 million) of debt, said a senior executive.

The debt was taken to finance the 9.2km Chenani-Nashri project in Jammu and Kashmir—the country’s longest road tunnel.

Acme Group and Inox Group that bid the country’s lowest solar and wind tariffs respectively this year now plan to exit the projects, said several people aware of the development.

In a first, Kerala Electricity Board to use drones for curbing power leakage

In order to plug leakages, a recurrent source of power failure and loss in revenue, Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will use drones to identify breakages, loose contact and encroachments in high transmission lines. In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the board will buy one drone on a pilot basis fitted with thermal camera and light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has independently started testing the treated waste water samples from sewage treatment plant (STP) at Kasba Bawada.

The decision has been taken after the draft environment status report (ESR) prepared by a third party slammed the civic administration for failing to effectively treat the waste water.

NITI Aayog pitches for 24x7 power, electric vehicles in 100 smart cities in its Three-Year Action Agenda

Government think tank NITI Aayog has pitched for 24x7 electricity for all, bringing reforms in diesel and petrol pricing, and city gas distribution in 100 smart cities in its Three-Year Action Agenda released today.

Power regulator hikes renewable energy target for Delhi Discoms

By the year 2020, distribution companies in Delhi will have to procure almost 20% of their electricity through renewable energy.

After releasing the draft regulations last month, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) will once again revise its ‘renewable purchase obligation (RPO) and renewable energy certificate framework implementation regulations, 2017’.

Accordingly, the commission will increase the share of green energy to be procured by discoms from the proposed 17% to 19.75% in the year 2019-20.
