300 e-buses to hit Mumbai roads

BEST's fleet strength will go up by 300 electric buses, being procured for Mumbai under FAME-2 (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles) scheme/subsidy of the Central government. The buses, whose 10-year-contract for Rs 1,259 crore will come up for clearance at the committee meeting on Wednesday, are being opposed by some panel members. Sunil Ganacharya (BJP) said BEST must first maintain its own fleet, which gone below the mandatory 3,337 buses.

No bidders for e-buses, NMC seeks extension of deadline

For the second consecutive time, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s transport department has found no bidders for supplying 40 electric buses, sanctioned by the central government last year. The NMC has already missed two deadlines. “Now, we have sought another extension till February 29,” said an official. In August 2019, the department of heavy industries and public enterprises had sanctioned 100 electric buses for NMC under Phase-II of faster adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicles (FAME) in India. EDF Renewables and its partner for wind power generation in India, the SITAC Group, have announced the commissioning of the Verdant project, a new wind farm of 105 MW installed capacity in India. Jobs: India needs 1,000 GW of solar power capacity to replace coal workers

India would need 1,000 gigawatt (GW) of solar power capacity to replace coal mining jobs, according to a recent study. With a mounting global pressure to shift away from coal and adopt renewable energy sources, ensuring that coal miners find jobs locally in other industries is now a prerequisite. Ather Energy gets patent for light-weight charging connector for EVs

Electric two-wheeler firm Ather Energy has received patent for an ergonomic, light-weight and compact charging connector to suit small electric vehicles and power banks. According to the company filing with the patent office, the connector will have a charging socket mounted on a hand-held unit, which will have an angular grip for ease of use. 3 developers call off NTPC’s solar contracts  over regulatory delays

Solar power contracts of three major power plant developers with state-run NTPC Ltd have been cancelled due to delays in regulatory approvals, potentially disrupting India’s clean energy trajectory by knocking 1,400MW off it. Native Angel Network, an investor in native startups, has invested in a Bengaluru-based renewable energy startup, Carbon Masters. Native Angel Network, an arm of Madurai-based Nativelead Foundation, had last year invested Rs 65lakh in a city-based startup, ‘VilFresh’, which supplies packaged fresh milk within three hours of procurement. Delhi-Mumbai electric highway in the works, says Gadkari
