Mumbai: 100 e-charging spots planned at malls, Metro stations, homes

In a boost to the city’s electric vehicle infrastructure, Tata Power Company plans to install 100 charging points at malls and petrol pumps, outside Metro stations, and also provide for home charging. The aim is to increase the network of e-vehicle charging stations to 700 from the current 100 across cities—including Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad—by 2021, a Tata Power official said on Monday. The Government of India and the World Bank today signed a $450 million loan agreement to support the national programme to arrest the country’s depleting groundwater levels and strengthen groundwater institutions. Govt plans ₹11,000 crore power transmission project in Ladakh

Nitin Gadkari expects states to order 10,000 electric buses

The government is pushing for greater acceptance of electric buses and has advised states to do away with permit requirements for such vehicles, said Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, adding that he is expecting a minimum order of 10,000 battery electric buses from state-funded municipal corporations and private fleet operators. French electric utility firm ENGIE on Monday said it has fully commissioned its 250 MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh. The 200 MW phase was commissioned ahead of schedule in May 2019 and this milestone supports ENGIE's ambition to be a major renewables development partner as India becomes one of the fastest growing countries in global energy transition, a company statement said. Tata Power plans to have 700 EV charging stations by 2021

Tata Power is planning to increase its network of electric vehicle charging stations to 700 by next year, a top company official said. The company has already installed 100 fast charging stations in various cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, which it plans to take to 300 by March 2020. “We are mapping the locations where EVs are launched and we will be setting up charging stations in those cities. Reserves of lithium, critical for EV batteries, found near Bengaluru: Report

Researchers at the Atomic Minerals Directorate, a unit of India’s Atomic Energy Commission, have estimated lithium reserves of 14,100 tonnes in a patch of land surveyed in Mandya, 100 km from Bengaluru, according to a paper to be published in the forthcoming issue of journal Current Science, the Economic Times reported on Tuesday. MNRE reduces effective custom duty back to zero after increment in Budget

Following the Union Budget announcement that photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules would now incur customs duty, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) clarified that the effective basic custom duty would be zero. The Budget had a provision that levied a 20 per cent basic customs duty on PV cells and modules.
