AP Govt releases Rs 2,984 cr to clear power dues

The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday released a sum of Rs 2,984 crore to clear long- pending dues to solar and wind power generators, central generating stations and state generating stations. Of the total, Rs 2,199 crore will go to CGS and SGS while solar and wind power generators will get the balance. With this, pending payments to renewable energy generators have been cleared up to December 2019, according to an order issued by Energy Secretary N Srikant. Chandigarh taps private sector for 69MW solar energy target by 2022

The UT administration is all set to introduce the Renewable Energy Service Company Model (Resco) model in the city to tap solar energy on private residential houses. Under the model, the UT will rope in private companies to install solar plants atop houses. GE Renewable Energy bags 300 MW turbine orders for Gujarat wind farm

GE Renewable Energy, a division of General Electric, on Wednesday said it has received an order from the EDF-SITAC joint venture to supply and install 112 of its 2.7 megawatt (MW) wind turbines at Gujarat’s Sitac Kabini wind.

“The 112 units will be installed and commissioned over the next year and will produce enough green energy to meet the annual electricity requirements of more than 1.3 million people in the country,” GE Renewable Energy said in a press release.

Rajasthan plans to set up 30,000 MW solar capacity in 5 years

Rajasthan plans to set up 30,000 MW of solar power plants in next five years and is in talks with leading private and state-run companies to develop energy parks, the state’s energy minister BD Kalla told ET. This will add to an already installed capacity of around 50,000 MW in the state, he said. “We have come up with a new solar policy in which we are giving a host of incentives, including relaxations in stamp duty, electricity duty and transmission and wheeling charges. EESL Plans to Set Up 1,500 MW decentralised solar power plants by 2021

State-owned Energy Efficient Services Ltd (EESL) has forayed into solar power generation and plans to set up 1,500 MW of decentralised solar power plants across the country by the end of 2020-21, its managing director, Saurabh Kumar said. According to Kumar, the Maharashtra government had given mandate for 800 mw of solar power, of which EESL has already operationalised 100 MW. Tariff impact to be negligible if utilities invest in EV charging infra

Majority of the state public utilities have said that there will be a marginal increase in electricity tariffs if discoms invest in public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in their respective license areas. Rooftop solar growth too slow to meet 2022 target

The growth is rooftop solar power generation remains far too slow for the country to achieve the government’s ambitious target of 40 gigawatt of rooftop capacity by 2022, industry experts said. Diesel models out, Maruti drives in smart, affordable hybrids

Maruti Suzuki is banking on affordable green vehicles including those running on compressed natural gas (CNG) and on hybrid technology to drive in volumes and cut emissions over the next few years. Discoms eye 280 spots in Delhi to power e-vehicles

In tune with the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2019, the discoms in the capital are eyeing a network of more than 280 charging stations for e-vehicles (EVs) by the end of this year. While Tata Power, which has 12 charging stations, is planning 50 new ones, the two BSES discoms are trying to add 179 to their existing infrastructure. Using its local expertise, Bajaj Auto will offer a more affordable alternative to startup Yulu against Chinese electric two-wheelers. Maharashtra: MSEDCL wants no penalty over renewable energy targets

MSEDCL has filed a petition in Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) urging the Commission not to levy any penalty on it for failing to meet renewable energy targets, till 2022-23. The discom has claimed that despite repeated efforts by MSEDCL to procure power through renewable energy sources but was not receiving responses from the bidders.
