The Central Pollution Control Board has issued closure directions to 1033 industries that failed to install Online Consent Management & Monitoring System or connect them to the CPCB server.

These industries fall into 17 categories with the maximum closure notices going to sugar producers (245) followed by pharmaceutical (175) and distillery (145)

IIT scientists develop catalyst to make biofuel using Rajasthani sand

Scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur, have gone a step further in the quest for low-cost bio-fuel. The scientists have shown that oil extracted from algae can be converted into diesel by using sand from Rajasthan.

World over scientists are working on converting algae oil into biofuels (a fuel derived immediately from living matter) using different catalysts.

Electricity investment overtakes oil, gas for first time ever in 2016 -IEA

Uttar Pradesh nudges solar companies to cut power tariff on older pacts

Following a steep fall in solar tariffs in the last two years, Uttar Pradesh is pressuring solar power project developers to cut rates of electricity agreed upon in earlier contracts even though the pacts were signed when equipment prices were high.
