No exceptions for Odd-Even, government tells NGT

Four more nations join UN Environment's Clean Seas campaign

In a major collaboration to make the oceans litter-free, four more countries -- Chile, Oman, Sri Lanka and South Africa -- on Wednesday joined UN Environment's Clean Seas campaign by committing measures that include plastic bag bans, new marine reserves and drives to increase recycling. Sealing of unauthorized construction in Delhi could begin anew with the Supreme Court on Wednesday saying it would revive the court-appointed monitoring committee to identify and seal illegal buildings as government authorities had failed to stop such illegal structures from coming up.

UP cabinet approves solar energy policy to generate 10,700 Mw green power

The UP cabinet has given nod to a new Solar Energy Policy-2017 which would be effective for five years until 2022. Under the new policy, 10,000 surya mitras will be appointed in the state.

Vision to generate 200 Mw solar power in airports: Civil Aviation minister

Draft Maharashtra EV policy moots 15% subsidy on price of electric vehicles

The Maharashtra government is finalising a policy to encourage manufacturing as well as purchase of electric vehicles. Notify solid waste management bye-laws in 3 weeks: Delhi High Court to Lieutenant Governor

The Delhi High Court today asked Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to positively notify the Solid Waste Management bye-laws, framed jointly by the city's civic bodies and environmental experts, within three weeks.

French utility Engie plans to go green via biogas and renewable hydrogen

French utility Engie plans to switch all of its gas operations to biogas and renewable hydrogen by 2050, making it 100 percent green, its chief executive said.

The power and gas group has some 70 biogas projects worldwide, including 40 in France, and says that if all its projects get approval its annual investment in biogas could soar tenfold to hundreds of millions of euros per year.

Government mulls longer fixed cost recovery period for hydro power

The government is looking at extending fixed cost recovery period of hydro projects to 30- 35 years, from 12 years at present, to bring the tariff down to as low as Rs 2 per unit, Power Minister R K Singh has said.
