Madhya Pradesh to get solar energy panels installed at wind power plant sites

BHOPAL: In a bid to make Madhya Pradesh energy self-reliant, the government will install solar energy panels at wind power plant sites to provide solar energy during daytime and wind power in the nights. Energy Minister Hardeep Singh Dang reviewed the draft of the state’s renewable energy policy on Tuesday. At the meeting, Dang informed that this year maximum solar parks have been approved for Madhya Pradesh in the country. Clean air boost for Pune, 5 other cities in Maharashtra

PUNE: Six cities in Maharashtra — Nashik, Aurangabad, Pune, Greater Mumbai, Nagpur and Vasai Virar — are among the 42 cities, in 15 states, that will reap the benefits of the budgetary allocation of Rs 2,200 crore for air quality improvement. Cities with population of more than 10 lakh were shortlisted for the purpose. The six Maharashtra cities will collectively get Rs 396.5 crore with which, local bodies are expected to start initiatives to clean the air. No new policy, support to gas-based power plants at present: Government

New Delhi: The government has decided not to bring any new policy or provide support to gas-based power plants at the moment because states are reluctant to offer certain concessions for these projects, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. To revive and improve utilisation of gas-based capacity in the country, the Government of India had sanctioned a scheme of e-RLNG (e-auction of Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) for utilisation of gas-based power generation capacity during the years 2015-16 and 2016-17. Barring PowerGrid, total investments by power PSUs to rise 19 pc to ₹60k cr in FY22

New Delhi: The government has increased total investments by eight state-owned power companies, including REC Ltd, by over 19 per cent to ₹59,990.52 crore for 2021-22. This compares to revised estimate of ₹50,311.03 crore for the current financial year. REC Ltd witnessed the highest increase of over 69 per cent in investment to ₹9,300 crore, against ₹5,500 crore budget estimates for 2020-21. Power ministry to launch manufacturing programme for critical equipment

The Ministry of Power will launch a domestic manufacturing programme for critical power and renewable energy equipment at an outlay of Rs 1,500 crore in the coming financial year. The scheme titled 'Manufacturing Zones under Atmanirbhar Bharat Package' in the Union Budget would entail setting up three manufacturing zones in a year. Budget 2021: Import duty on solar invertors, lamps hiked

The government on Monday proposed to raise import duty on solar inverters and lanterns or lamps but did not go ahead with its plan to impose basic custom duty on solar equipment across the board to boost domestic manufacturing. Microsoft turns to Climeworks to deliver carbon capture techology

Microsoft Corp. said its climate fund will invest in Swiss carbon-removal startup Climeworks AG, and that the company will base executive pay partially on meeting sustainability goals. Microsoft will back Climeworks’ current project in Iceland to increase the scale of that company’s ability to suck carbon out of the air and pump it deep into the earth, as well as the company’s next project at the same site. CDC lends to Tata Capital-IFC’s cleantech finance joint venture

UK-based development finance institution CDC Group has given a $30 million (about Rs 220 crore) lending facility to Tata Cleantech Capital Ltd (TCCL), the companies said in a statement. Government plans $41 billion reform to revive ailing power utilities

India plans to spend Rs 3 lakh crore ($41 billion) on a new plan to revive regional electricity retailers, people with knowledge of the matter said, after a previous attempt failed to stem losses at the utilities. The spending would be spread over a few years and is likely to be unveiled on Feb. 1 as part of the government’s budget for the year starting April 1, the people said, asking not to be identified as the proposal isn’t public. Chandigarh: 5,000 smart meters on new control centre

CHANDIGARH: The UT administration's engineering department has installed more than 5,000 smart electricity meters across the city under the Smart Grid Project and linked these with the new command and control centre.
