Scientists from IITM Pune Develop New Model to Tackle Air Pollution Menace in Delhi-NCR

Much ahead of the air pollution season in northwest India, especially in Delhi-NCR, scientists have come up with a Decision Support System (DSS) that will not just help zero in on the exact sources contributing to Delhi's pollution, but also predict practical scenarios in winters.

Japan boosts renewable energy target for 2030 energy mix

Japan will raise its target for renewable energy in the country's electricity mix for 2030 as it pushes to cut emissions to meet commitments under international agreements on climate change, according to a draft of its latest energy policy.

The country's revised basic energy strategy leaves unchanged its target for nuclear power, even though the country has struggled to return the industry to its former central role after the Fukushima disaster of 2011.

In order to reduce import dependence with regard to power and renewable energy equipment and to promote the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, a “Scheme for Setting up Manufacturing Zones for Power and Renewable Energy Equipment” has been proposed.

It is proposed to set up three Manufacturing Zones over a period of three years. NTPC wins auction of 450 MW of Solar projects in Madhya Pradesh; Aims to build 60 GW Renewable Energy Capacity by 2032

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC REL), a 100% subsidiary of NTPC, has emerged winner at the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) auction for a 450 MW of solar projects at the Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh (M.P).

NTPC Renewables won a capacity of 105 MW & 220 MW quoting the lowest tariff of ₹2.35 per kWh, and ₹2.33 per kWh respectively. The tender received overwhelming response from the bidders with a total of 15 bidders being shortlisted .

BSES to get 510 MW green power from SECI for Delhi

Even as the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) allowed Delhi’s power distribution company BSES to approach the Union power ministry for de-allocating 621 mega-watt (MW) of electricity supply from NTPC’s Dadri-I generating station earlier in the month, the Reliance Infrastructure-led company said on Tuesday that BSES discoms have inked power sale agreements (PSA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to procure 510 MW of solar and bundled hybrid power.

MYSUN ties up with TATA Cleantech Capital to raise INR 15 Crore for Solar Portfolio Expansion

India’s leading rooftop solutions company, MYSUN, has tied up to raise Rs 15 crore in debt funding from TATA Cleantech Capital Ltd (TCCL), a joint venture between Tata Capital Limited (‘TCL’) and International Finance Corporation (‘IFC’), Washington DC, US.

The company had recently launched its solar asset vehicle MYSUN+ to develop solar projects under the distributed and open access models with an investment of Rs 600 Crores in the first phase. Andhra govt invites national agencies for energy-efficiency partnerships

The Andhra Pradesh government has invited national agencies to collaborate with the state in its energy efficiency movement. Emphasising the need to ramp up cost-effective measures in the power sector, Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das said adopting innovative technologies can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Suzuki to launch EVs by fiscal 2025, in India first

Japanese compact car maker Suzuki Motor will release its first all-electric vehicle by fiscal 2025, Nikkei has learned, a move that is likely to accelerate an EV shift in the category of compact cars.

The new EV will be released first in India, Suzuki's stronghold, to be followed by launches in Japan and Europe. The first EV model will be made available for 1.5 million yen ($13,700) or less, after government subsidies are taken into account. Net inflows into sustainable funds plummet 98% in June quarter

Indian funds based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing philosophy garnered a mere ₹26 crore during the June quarter as incremental flows into existing funds remained muted, according to a report by Morningstar India.

In comparison, such funds witnessed net inflows of ₹1,200 crore in the March quarter and ₹3,750 crore in the December quarter of 2020.

FCA slams ESG fund applications for claims ‘that do not bear scrutiny’

The UK financial watchdog has written asset managers criticising them over the “poor quality” of applications they are submitting to launch sustainable funds.

U.K. eyes new body to run its energy systems, meet climate targets

Britain’s government plans to create a new energy system operator to help the country meet its net-zero emissions target, which could replace the role of National Grid, consultation documents published on Tuesday showed.

Rajasthan announces EV subsidies, following Delhi, Maharashtra & Gujarat

The Rajasthan Government on Friday announced a policy to subsidise the sale of electric vehicles (EV) making it the latest state to have such a policy after Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi. As per the policy document, the state component of the goods and services tax (SGST) would be refunded to buyers of all EVs in Rajasthan between April this year and March 2022.
