Andhra Pradesh: NREDCAP to set up ultra high speed charging points at IOC filling stations along highways

As part of promoting the use of electric vehicles (EVs), the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to set up charging points at around 1,000 petrol bunks off the highways across the state.

The New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) is planning to sign an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for setting up charging points at its filling stations mainly along the state and national highways. The state government has already announced a scheme for its employees to buy electric scooters at a subsidy and on EMIs.

Centre mulls incentives for Tesla, provided carmaker sets up manufacturing in India

India is open to considering lower import duty and other incentives for Tesla if the company decided to manufacture its cars in the country, a senior government official told ET.

Tesla has approached the government to seek reduced customs duty on its cars, reasoning that they should be treated as electric vehicles and not luxury automobiles.

"We will be open to consider, especially if they will set up a manufacturing place here," said the official, who did not want to be identified. Any decision on this count will be sector specific and not for a particular company.

Giving efficient plants priority in coal power despatch could save Rs 9,000 cr annually: CEEW

Discoms in India could save up to Rs 9,000 crore every year by prioritizing coal power despatch based on efficiency rather than the prevailing system which prioritizes based on variable costs, according to research done by Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).

This can provide much-needed respite to public discoms, which reported a loss of Rs 61,360 crore in 2018-19, CEEW said in a statement.

Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC (GIC.UL) will invest $240 million in Arctic Green Energy to support the renewable energy firm's expansion in Asia and Europe, the companies said on Monday.

India has urged the group of 20 nations (G20) having per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions above the global average to bring it down to the world average, thereby vacating ‘some' carbon space for developing nations.

Adani Electricity Mumbai issues $2-bn sustainability-linked bonds

Adani Electricity Mumbai (AEML), an integrated utilities arm of Adani Transmission, on Friday said it has set up a $2-billion global medium-term notes programme (GMTN).

It added that the GMTN programme and the sustainability-linked bond issuance is the next step in its capital management plan.

IFC lends $250 million to HDFC Ltd to boost green housing finance

HDFC Ltd has got a loan of $250 million from International Finance Corporation (IFC), the investment arm of the World Bank Group, to be used by India’s largest housing finance company for green housing.

Green housing is regarded as a luxury market in the country, but has climate benefits. IFC said its partnership with HDFC would help change perceptions about the market. At least 25 per cent of the funding is for green affordable housing.

Indonesia to make biomass co-firing mandatory in power plants

Indonesia plans to make the co-firing of biomass in power stations mandatory as part of its efforts to phase out coal power plants, which account for more than 60% of its electricity supplies, an energy ministry director said on Friday.

Rajasthan govt to roll out EV policy soon

Close on the heels of Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Telangana, Rajasthan is also ready to launch the much-awaited Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy.

GUVNL withdraws subsidy to 4,000 solar projects

State-run Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has withdrawn subsidy to small-scale distributed solar projects, affecting about 4000 projects with an aggregate capacity of around 2500 MW signed power.

The purchase price of power produced was fixed at Rs 2.83 per unit which was already far lower than other states like Rajasthan and Maharashtra, where they set Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) tariff rates at higher than Rs 3.15.
