Ethanol distillation capacities to double by 2025 and achieve 20 % blending target:- Secretary, Department of Food, Public Distribution

Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Shri Sudhanshu Pandey today briefed the media persons about ethanol blending with petrol (EBP) program.

The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 has been released by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 5th June, 2021 i.e. on World Environment day. Notification regarding making E 20 fuel available by April, 2023 has been issued.

NCRTC plans to harness blended renewable energy for RRTS project

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Tuesday signed an MoU with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) to harness blended renewable energy for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project.

According to the NCRTC, the MoU has provisions to explore possible opportunities in electric/transformative mobility, Hydrogen based economy, and other alternative sources of fuels and energy. Hardening of imported solar PV module price to moderate project returns: Icra

Hardening of imported photovoltaic solar module price will moderate the returns for projects awarded over the last six to nine-month period, rating agency Icra said on Tuesday. The increase in imported photovoltaic (PV) solar module price level by about 15-20 per cent over the last 4-5 months, to around 22-23 cents/watt as of date, is likely to impact the returns of solar power project developers, Icra said in a statement.

This price rise has been mainly driven by a sharp increase in the price of polysilicon, a key input for cell and module manufacturers, it added.

Tirupati: New technology to end relentless search for ethanol

A Bengaluru-based start-up – ASN Fuels Pvt Ltd in collaboration with IIT-Tirupati has been working on trying new avenues to produce ethanol from agricultural waste called as lingo-cellulosic biomass. It has been promoted by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) towards fulfilling the mandate of the Government of India to all the oil manufacturing companies (OMCs) for 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025.

Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) has decided to offer a Green Tariff Initiative for its consumers in Mumbai suburban area.

As per the company's official release, all consumers right from corporates, industrial, commercial, hotels, restaurants, and residential consumers can now switch to green energy. Goldi Solar plans to expand manufacturing capacity to 2.5 GW

Goldi Solar, a Mumbai-based global solar panel manufacturer, on Monday said it plans to increase its manufacturing capacity to 2.5 gigawatt (GW) with a new facility on the outskirts of Surat, Gujarat.

At present, the existing facility has a capacity of 500 megawatt (MW) and the expansion of 2 GW has been planned in two stages, according to the company press release.

NTPC invites EoI for Hydrogen Fuel Cell based pilot projects Pilot projects to be set up at NTPC plant premises

NTPC, India’s largest integrated power generating company under Ministry of Power has floated a global Expression of Interest (EOI) to set up two pilot projects, Standalone Fuel-Cell based backup power system and a standalone fuel-cell based microgrid system with hydrogen production using electrolyser at NTPC premises. Through the projects, NTPC is looking to further strengthen its footprint in green and clean fuel. NTPC will collaborate for implementation and further commercialization of the projects.

IREDA invites bids for Rs. 4500 crore Solar PLI scheme; Big boost to domestic production of Solar PV Modules

Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), a PSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has invited bids from solar module manufacturers for setting up solar manufacturing units under the central government’ Rs. 4,500 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. MNRE has appointed IREDA as the implementing agency for the scheme. The Union Cabinet had earlier approved Rs. 4,500 crore scheme to boost domestic manufacturing of solar Photo Voltaic ( PV) modules.

New waste water treatment technology can reduce costs for low and medium scale enterprises

Soon automobile servicing industry, food industry, and other low and medium scale enterprises can have a smart, affordable electric field-assisted membrane separation device at their disposal for oily waste water treatment.

Low-income group users mostly cannot afford the high cost of treatment technologies available for handling oily wastewater generated at their source points. As a result, large amount of untreated oily wastewater is discharged into the aquatic bodies without following the guidelines of the Pollution Control Board.

Discoms' Outstanding Dues To Gencos Fall 11.2 % To Rs 81,628 Cr In April

Total outstanding dues owed by electricity distribution utilities or discoms to power producers fell 11.2 per cent to Rs 81,628 crore in April 2021 from a year ago.

Distribution companies (discoms) owed a total Rs 91,915 crore to power generation firms in April 2020, according to portal PRAAPTI (Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators).

NTPC invites EoIs for hydrogen pilots

In a push for India’s green hydrogen efforts, state-run NTPC Ltd has floated a global expression of interest (EOI) for setting up two pilot projects; standalone fuel-cell based backup power system and a microgrid system, with hydrogen production using electrolyser.

Rajasthan to Centre: Don’t end waiver on solar transmission charges

Rajasthan government on Thursday appalled the Centre not to end the waiver interstate transmission system (ISTS) charges on renewable after June 30, 2023.

Subodh Agarwal, chairman and managing director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation said that the waiver is critical to achieve the solar energy generation targets.

The Centre has set a target of 450 gigawatt by 2030 from renewable resources and Rajasthan in its solar policy has envisaged setting 37.5 gigawatt by 2024-25.

IKEA to help suppliers in India, 2 other markets transit to 100% renewable power

Swedish home furnishing retailing major IKEA on Thursday said it will launch a programme in India, Poland and China this year, helping suppliers there transit to 100 per cent renewable electricity. Under this initiative, the company would invest and support nearly 1,600 direct suppliers, IKEA said in a statement.

IKEA is striving for 100 per cent renewable energy throughout the entire value chain.

BBMP signs pact with GAIL for biogas supply

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), that will give the company around 300 tonnes per day (TPD) of organic waste to generate compressed bio gas (CBG). The MoU was signed on Wednesday evening.

The company has sought 18 acres of land in North Bengaluru — since their head office is in the same area — to generate and supply CBG. India to add 20 GW of wind energy capacity by 2025: GWEC

India will install 20 GW of wind energy capacity over 2021-25, according to the India wind energy market outlook released by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) on Thursday.

About 90 per cent of this capacity addition will come from Central tenders, followed by corporate procurement and lastly State markets, GWEC said.

India currently has a pipeline of 10.3 GW in Central and State markets, which is expected to drive installations until 2023 in the market. The market post 2023 is likely to be driven by 10 GW of new capacity awards to wind, majorly in hybrid formats, GWEC said.... Read more..
