Today on the occasion of World Environment Day, a new product category of Green Room Air Conditioners was launched on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). IndusInd Bank to raise climate financing to 3.5 per cent in 2 years

Private sector IndusInd Bank on Saturday said it will reduce carbon emissions to 50 per cent in next four years and raise climate financing to 3.5 per cent in two years.

The bank will be increasing the allocation of capital towards climate finance to 3.5 per cent of its loan book over the next two years, which is currently at 2.7 per cent, IndusInd Bank said on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

Climate change action plan launched by Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani - Gujarat discoms sign pacts for 3,979 solar projects with 2,500 MW capacity

On the World Environment Day on Saturday, the Gujarat government unveiled its ‘State Action Plan on Climate Change’ with the aim to build a sustainable and climate-resilient future. Coordinated climate adaption and mitigation planning is envisaged by 2030.

Zomato commits 100pc electric vehicles adoption for its delivery fleet by 2030

On World Environment Day, Zomato — the Gurugram-based foodtech unicorn — on Saturday, announced its commitment towards 100 percent adoption of electric vehicles by 2030.

In a blog post, Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said, “We are joining the Climate Group’s global electric mobility initiative, EV100, and committing to 100 percent adoption of electric vehicles (EV) by 2030.”

Delhi Govt Wants SC to Close 10 ‘Outdated’ Thermal Power Plants Near the City

The Delhi government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking closure of 10 coal-fired power plants in the city’s neighbourhood. These plants, the government has said, use outdated, polluting technology.

The 10 thermal power plants in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have been contributing significantly to air pollution in Delhi-NCR, environment minister Gopal Rai said.

India brings forward target of 20 pc ethanol-blending in petrol to 2023

The Central Government hereby directs that the oil companies shall sell ethanol-blended petrol with a percentage of ethanol up to 20 per cent as per the Bureau of Indian Standards specifications, in the whole of the States and union territories," the Oil Ministry said in a Gazette notification. "This Notification shall come into force with effect from the 1st April 2023.

HDFC Bank Commits To Becoming Carbon Neutral By 2031-32

HDFC Bank today announced plans to become carbon neutral by 2031-32. As part of this initiative, the Bank is looking at reducing its emissions, energy, and water consumption. The Bank will continue to incorporate and scale up the use of renewable energy in its operations.

Karnataka tweaks policy to woo electric vehicle makers

The Karnataka government has amended its electric vehicle and energy storage policy to attract more investments in the e-mobility sector across the state, an official said on Tuesday.

"As decided at the May 27 state cabinet meeting, the Karnataka Electric Vehicle & Energy Storage policy of 2017 has been amended to give impetus to the electric mobility sector and attract more investments over the next 5 years," said state Industries Department Director R. A.P. govt. upgrades feeders for free power supply to farmers

To continue supplying power free of cost to the farm sector for nine hours during the day, the Andhra Pradesh government has upgraded the agriculture feeders at a cost of ₹1,700 crore .

Of the 6,663 feeders, only 3,854 were conducive for supplying power for nine hours in two spells, hence there was a need to augment their capacity, an official release said. The aim is to make the feeder network robust in order to implement the scheme for the next 30 years without any hitch.

India’s average daily electricity use in May fell 10.4% from April, a Reuters analysis of government data showed, as states imposed lockdowns to rein in a devastating second wave of coronavirus infections.
