Finance ministry defers safeguard duty on solar cells in view of court order

The finance ministry today said that safeguard duty will not be insisted upon on import of solar cells for the "time being" in deference to interim directions passed by the High Court of Orissa. Last month, India had imposed safeguard duty on solar cells imports from China and Malaysia for two years to protect domestic players from steep rise in inbound shipments.

SDMC proposes to issue municipal bonds worth Rs 500 cr for solar panel projects

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has set the ball rolling for issuance of municipal bonds worth Rs 500 crore, seeking to fund two important projects, officials said today. The Standing Committee of the SDMC cleared the proposal after which it now awaits nod from the House.

KKR to buy control of REEL for $530 million, one of India's biggest buyouts

Jharkhand to soon have a new policy for rooftop solar power plant

The Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Authority (JREDA) on Friday said it has prepared a framework for the state rooftop solar power policy 2018 with an objective to produce 500-megawatt (MW) power through grid-connected rooftop solar plants by 2022. Several polluting factories in North Delhi may be sealed soon

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation is likely to initiate sealing drive after September 29 against factories or industries using coal and other ‘dirty’ fuels like pet coke and furnace oil leading to air pollution in the city.

Madras High Court allows solar import release without paying safeguard duty

India to invest Rs 3.85 lakh crore to set up 77,000 Megawatt solar capacity

India is likely to invest Rs 385,000 crore for setting up 77,000 Megawatt of solar power generation capacity by 2022, Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh said today.

Solar rooftop project for Nashik Municipal Corporation to begin soon

With 4 years to go, only 6 per cent of solar rooftop capacity target met

With less than four years left to meet its target of installing 40,000 megawatt (MW) of rooftop solar power capacity by 2022, India has installed just about 2,538 MW as of March 2018, a full 94 per cent short of target.

SEZ solar units hit by blind spot in safeguard duty
