Parliamentary panel objects to diversion of clean energy fund to compensate states for GST

A parliamentary panel, headed by BJP’s Murli Manohar Joshi, has taken objection to the Centre’s move to divert a large chunk of the Rs 86,440-crore National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) to compensate states for their revenue loss following the rollout of goods and services tax. India to bid 80 GW of solar and wind energy projects by 2020

India has declared the trajectory of bidding 60 gigawatt (GW) capacity of solar energy and 20 GW capacity of wind energy by March 2020, leaving two years time for execution of projects, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said today.

Fortum India plans to install 720 electric vehicle charging facilities by 2020

 Fortum India, the local arm of Finland-based energy company, plans to install 720 facilities for charging of electric vehicles by 2020 in seven cities of India.

Airport to go green with LED lights, solar power

As part of its green energy policy, Chennai airport is planning to buy solar power at a concessional rate for nine years starting April next year to reduce dependence on the grid. 
The airport has converted its lights into LED. It recently bought six sets of LED base lights for use for disaster relief as part of measures to make its lights and fixtures energy-friendly. This will replace the conventional lights the airport was having.

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) Saturday signed an agreement with Green Climate Fund (GCF) to infuse USD 100 million into the project designed to unlock private sector initiatives for creation of rooftop solar power capacity across India. Government spends half of Rs 5,000 crore renewable energy outlay for current fiscal

The government has spent Rs 2,579 crore on renewable energy projects and schemes in the first six months of the current financial year (2018-19), roughly a half of the Rs 5,146 crore outlay for the sector budgeted in this year’s budget, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said in a report.

Goa government proposes to tweak solar policy to incentivise production

Tamil Nadu: Students set up solar recharging station in Thanjavur

A group of college students and a Coimbatore-based start-up have installed a solar-powered recharging station near Pattukkottai.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to seek cabinet nod soon for rooftop solar scheme SRISTI

The Ministry of New and RenewableEnergy (MNRE) will approach the Union cabinet in the next 30-45 days seeking approval for the solar rooftop scheme Sristi or Sustainable Rooftop Implementation for Solar Transfiguration of India.
