Nagpur: Rs 1,000 crore solar project to power 1.30 lakh street lights

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is all set to execute a Rs1,000 crore solar project to power 1.30 lakh street lights, buildings and some parts of water and sewage treatment plants, followed by operation and maintenance for 20 years. Amazon plans to make 50% of shipments net zero carbon by 2030

Amazon hopes to make 50 percent of all shipments to customers with net zero carbon in the next 11 years as part of an initiative it’s calling Shipment Zero, it said today. Maharashtra solar auction winning tariffs remain unchanged at Rs 2.74 per unit

Tariffs in Maharashtra's latest solar auction for 1,000 MW, held on Monday, remained almost unchanged from the last one conducted eight months ago, with mostly domestic developers participating. World Bank approves Rs 11,000 cr for improving safety of hydro power dams

The World Bank has accepted a proposal to provide Rs 11,000 crore to India to improve safety and operational performance of its 733 large dams across 18 states over the next 10 years. The money will be utilised under the ongoing Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Programme (DRIP) for its subsequent phases beginning 2020. Besides operation, maintenance and emergency action plans, the programme will also focus on revenue generation at dams through tourism, fisheries, water recreations and solar and hydro power.

Singapore fund and British developer eye stake in UK government’s south Asian renewables company

Mumbai-based investment fund EverSource Capital is preparing to take a $100 million slice of U.K. government-funded developer Ayana Renewable Power, according to a report in The Economic Times. EverSource is a JV between the Singapore-based Everstone Group private equity fund and U.K. renewables developer Lightsource BP – which rebranded itself last year after oil and gas giant BP acquired a 43% stake in it.

'Increasing maturity': PwC poll highlights growth of ESG and sustainable investing

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) plans to hold the first ever offshore wind energy auction in the country for a 1 gigawatt project in the western state of Gujarat. SECI recently signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up India’s first offshore wind energy project. India has proposed incentives worth 885 billion rupees ($12.4 billion) to encourage power plants to install equipment to curb emissions and to develop infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), a government statement said on Friday. Relief for solar developers on safeguard duty
