Innolia Energy announces Rs 225 cr investment in solar module, EV products manufacturing

US-based Innolia Energy on Monday said it has launched a project entailing investment of Rs 225 crore to set up a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad for solar modules, lithium battery and electric vehicle (EV) products.

"Leveraging years of developing advanced technology solutions for companies in the US, Innolia Energy's manufacturing plant (300MW) in India delivers a fully integrated and customisable system solution of solar panels, lithium-battery and EV products manufacturing under a single roof," a company statement said.

India’s Gujarat state government says it will stop approving new thermal power projects

In a first-of-its-kind move aimed at curbing the burning of fossil fuel for power generation, Gujarat government on Saturday announced that it will not give fresh permissions for setting up new thermal power stations in the state.

A decision to not provide permission for new thermal power projects has been taken by Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, stated an official release here. The 8-10 per cent of annual increase in power demand will be met through non-conventional sources, the statement said adding that the move will “guide” other states in the country.

Southeast Asia to see 100-fold increase in floating solar PV plants: Rystad Energy

Development of floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants is expected to increase 100-fold in Southeast Asia over the next five to 15 years, according to energy research firm Rystad Energy.

Government likely to reduce GST to 5 percent on Hybrid Vehicles like EVs: Nitin Gadkari

Just like electric vehicles, the government will consider reducing GST on hybrid vehicles too. The Government of India earlier reduced the GST on EVs from 12% to 5% at the 2019 Budget, said Minister of Road Transport & Highway, Nitin Gadkari at SIAM Conclave.

In July, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the reduction of GST on electric vehicles from 12% to 5%. Hyundai to supply affordable electric vehicles to Ola by 2022

Hyundai Motor India will begin supplies of ‘affordable’ and ‘mass market’ range of electric vehicles to India’s ride-hailing giant Ola from 2022-23.

These vehicles, which are tailor-made for Indian buyers, will be based on a new vehicle platform that is aimed at keeping cost of manufacturing low and making them affordable.

India gifts solar panels to UN headquarters in New York to promote sustainable energy

India has gifted solar panels to the United Nations Office in New York. The solar panels have been installed on the roof to power the building’s energy needs. The solar panels can generate power up to 50 Kilowatt (KW).

“Solar panels, a gift from India, are installed on the roof of the UN. The panels are powered up to reach the max of 50 KW of generation power,” the United Nations tweeted.

Project for solar power on farmland to kick off in Delhi next week

Delhi government’s plan to generate solar energy on agricultural land is set to take off next week. The power department will soon float tenders to invite companies to set up the solar plants under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Aay Badhotari Solar Yojana under the public-private participation model. Kerala: State electricity board invites E-Tender for roof top solar project

The Kerala State Electricity Board has invited e-tenders for the 200MW rooftop solar power project aimed at enhancing the state's renewable energy generation capacity in the future. The tendering is the first step towards establishing roof top plants for generating 500MW of solar energy.
