New California law to curb climate pollutant emissions based on Scripps science

California Governor Edmund “Jerry” Brown signed into law today new state restrictions on the emissions of so-called short-lived climate pollutants such as methane, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) used in refrigeration, and soot and other forms of black carbon. Solar power plant to begin generation by April

Centre announces third list of smart cities: 27 cities qualify from 12 states

BRICS nations-led New Development Bank to raise up to $3billion in next 3 years

Indian government plans to phase out aged coal-based plants

The Indian government is planning to phase out coal-based power plants that are more than 25 years old and are inefficient in order to reduce carbon emissions, a Central Electricity Authority (CEA) source said Tuesday.

Power plants with capacity of around 30,000 MW that burn around 100 million mt/year of coal are likely to be retired in a phased manner, the source said.

Suzlon scores domestic double with its first deal signed with Oil India

Suzlon Group is to supply 25 turbines to Oil India for two wind farms in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat totalling 52.5MW.
