HC directs action on drains emptying untreated waste in Ganga

The High Court of Uttarakhand has directed that 65 drains emptying untreated waste in to the Ganga river should either be stopped or diverted. The court has also directed that the treatment of these drains should be ensured within the set time frame.

States ask for subsidies, support, protection, right policies to boost clean energy in India

States on Wednesday urged the Centre to provide a level-playing field for domestic investors in the renewable energy sector and categorise large hydro projects as clean energy source to give a boost to green energy projects. Himachal CM seeks renewable energy benefits for HPPs over 25 MW

SoftBank to offer ISA members free power from solar plants after 25 years of PPA

SoftBank Group’s chief executive officer Masayoshi Son on Wednesday said his company is willing to supply free power from solar projects after the completion of the 25-year tenure of power purchase agreements (PPAs). While the government has rejuvenated its focus on the sector, power minister has said that states are not purchasing solar power even at the lowest rates. Make solar power structures mandatory in new buildings in Tamil Nadu, says High Court

The Madras high court has directed the government to make instillation of solar power structures mandatory whenever any approval for a multi-storey building is granted. 

"Government shall make the installation of Solar Photo Voltaic Panels (SPVP) as mandatory condition, so that the solar power can be generated which will ease the job of the Tangedco," Justice N Kirubakaran said.

Edelweiss arm eyes Rising Sun’s 140MW solar assets in Rajasthan

Cabinet approves rooftop solar scheme

The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved a scheme to promote rooftop solar by giving domestic consumers a generation-based incentive (GBI) of ₹2 per unit for a period of five years.
