Government has approved Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles

Taking steps forward towards the vision of an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, Government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the PLI Scheme for Textiles for MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics and 10 segments/ products of Technical Textiles with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 10,683 crore. Green hydrogen: PLI scheme for electrolyser manufacturing on the cards, says Union power minister RK Singh

To expedite the uptake of green hydrogen, the government will come up with a production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for investors in electrolyser manufacturing, Union power minister RK Singh said on Wednesday. Electrolysers are used to produce green hydrogen using electricity generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind plants.

Tamil Nadu announces 4,000 Mw solar parks with 2,000 Mw of battery storage projects

The state government on Tuesday announced solar power parks across the state to generate 4,000MW of solar energy with battery storage system of 2,000MW in areas excluding corporations and municipalities.

The government also committed to install smart meters to make it easier for monitoring power consumption, and facilitate payments either post-paid or prepaid with zero-error assessment. Distribution transformers will also get smart meters at 1,270 crore.

India to give $3.5 bln in revised clean tech scheme for automakers -sources

India will give about $3.5 billion in incentives to auto companies over a five-year period under a revised scheme to boost the manufacturing and export of clean technology vehicles, two sources aware of the latest proposal told Reuters.

The government's original plan was to give about $8 billion to automakers and part manufacturers to promote mainly gasoline technology, with added benefits for electric vehicles (EVs).

Global hydropower industry launches ESG standard to attract investors

The Hydropower Sustainability Council (HSC) has launched an environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance standard to enhance transparency in the industry and give investors more confidence in backing new projects, it said on Thursday.

Hydropower supplied one sixth of global electricity in 2020 but new projects have slowed, partly due to lengthy permitting processes, risks from environmental assessments and opposition from local communities. read more

Ministry of Coal Constitutes Task Force and Expert Committee to Prepare Road Map for Coal based Hydrogen Production

On India’s 75 th Independence Day, the Prime Minster announced a Hydrogen Mission. Coal is one of the important sources of hydrogen making (Brown Hydrogen) apart from Natural Gas (Grey hydrogen) and renewable energy (Green Hydrogen) through electrolysis. Tamil Nadu’s energy dept plans a solar park in every district

The Tamil Nadu government plans to set up 4,000 MW worth of solar power generating units and 2,000 MW worth of solar parks with battery storage capacity in the near term.

The proposed projects are part of the State government’s vision of adding 20,000 MW of solar capacity with adequate battery storage, over the next 10 years, the State Energy Minister V Senthilbalaji told the Assembly on Tuesday. Tackling wind energy waste, Gamesa produces recyclable blades

Spanish turbine maker Siemens Gamesa (SGREN.MC) said on Tuesday it has started producing recyclable offshore wind turbine blades for commercial use.

Wind turbine blades are generally large and non-recyclable and at the end of their service end up in huge landfills that have started attracting environmentalists' attention.

Rival Vestas (VWS.CO) in May unveiled technology enabling wind turbine blades to be fully recycled, but Siemens Gamesa claimed in its statement on Tuesday that it was the first company to produce recyclable blades. read more

Rajasthan: RERC raises net metering load capacity up to 500KW

Ending a prolonged uncertainty over the fate of rooftop solar projects, Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) in an order on Tuesday increased net metering load capacity up to 500 kiloxwatt (KW) from earlier provision of 10kW.

In the order it said, “Net metering arrangement shall be applicable for loads up to 500 KW or up to the sanctioned load, whichever is lower, for all categories of the consumers. However, the Commission may take further view on other issues raised by the discoms in their response at a later stage by following the due procedure.”

EV Plugs comes up with aggregator service for EV charging

India’s first independent aggregator app for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations has gone live with more than 1000 verified listings. EV Plugs is a free app available on both iOS and android besides being web-based.

According to Manish Narang, co-founder and chief executive, EV Plugs, the 1000 charging stations are across more than 60 cities in India. The listed charging stations include those being offered by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), Tata Power, Statiq, Ather, ReVolt, etc.

Electric recharge centres to be opened across Karnataka: Minister

Recharge centres will be opened across the state in the near future as more and more electric vehicles are coming up, Karnataka Minister for Energy, Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar said on Tuesday.

"As more electric vehicles are coming up, electricity recharge centres will be opened all over the state. Toyota To Spend $13.5 Billion By 2030 On Battery Production

Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, plans to spend more than $13.5 billion by 2030 to develop batteries and the underlying supply chain to catch competitors in the growing market for electric cars and trucks.

While the Japanese automaker led the industry in the technology of hybrid gasoline-electric hybrids, it is working hard to bring its first all-electric vehicle lineup to market next year.

Ola Electric on Monday said it has tied up with leading banks and financial institutions, including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Prime and TATA Capital, for providing loans to customers for its S1 electric scooter that will be available for purchase from September 8.

PepsiCo India launches 'tidy trails' in Mathura

Social cost of 2019's plastic more than GDP of India

The pollution, emissions and clean-up costs of plastic produced in 2019 alone could be $3.7 trillion, according to a report released Monday by wildlife charity WWF, warning of the environmental and economic burden of this "seemingly cheap" material.

"Plastic appears to be a relatively cheap material when looking at the market price primary plastic producers pay for virgin plastic," said the report Plastics: The cost to society, environment and the economy, produced for WWF by the consultancy Dalberg.
