Nilgiris hydel power projects may get green nod without public hearings

Two major hydroelectric projects in eco-sensitive Nilgiris planned by the state government-run Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company (Tangedco) are likely to get environmental clearances without the mandatory public hearings. Close to $2.1 billion in cumulative disclosed corporate-level investment was deployed into off-grid energy access markets between 2010 and 2019, Wood Mackenzie has estimated. Gujarat solar tender gets lukewarm response, Industry blames low ceiling tariff

A 500 MW solar tender issued by Gujarat has received a lukewarm response because most solar energy generators found the ceiling tariff to be too low, industry insiders said. Karnataka: Bescom's subsidy push to boost solar power units

Bescom wants to lure more apartments to set up rooftop solar units. It has launched a campaign, offering 20%-40% of the project cost as subsidy to individual houses, group housing communities and resident welfare associations to install solar rooftop photovoltaic (SRTPV) units. The campaign is part of Soura Gruha Yojane Phase 2 or grid-connected solar rooftop project. The utility wants to instal 5,900MW of solar rooftop capacity in the city.
