Indore airport eyes solar power, energy efficiency to cut CO2 emission

Indore airport, also known as Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, may soon be recognized for its significant progress in managing carbon emissions by a global airport body. Airport authorities plans to apply for carbon management certification programme – ‘Airport Carbon Accreditation’, which is run by Airports Council International (ACI). Delhi's air quality severe, CPCB convenes emergency meeting

Delhi's air quality deteriorated to 'severe' due to a dust storm in northwest India which led to a sudden spike in the pollution level in the national capital, the Centre-run SAFAR said. The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) recorded the city's air quality index (AQI) at 408 which falls in severe category, while the Central Pollution Control Board showed the AQI in very poor category at 347. Four-fold rise in total solar capacity but rooftop meets just 10% of target

Rooftop solar, one the fastest growing sub-sectors in the country's renewable energy space, has hit a speed bump. Of the targeted 40 Gw of solar rooftop installs, only 10 per cent has been achieved. SECI to develop 500 MW solar projects in Tamil Nadu

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will establish 500 MW (Phase I) of grid-connected solar PV projects in Tamil Nadu on Build Own Operate (B-O-O) basis. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) will purchase power from these projects. Hero MotoCorp-backed Ather Energy said Wednesday its electric scooter Ather 450 has received regulatory compliance to qualify for subsidy under the FAME II scheme. Centre to invite bids for 40GW battery plants

The government is considering a plan to establish battery making capacity of 40 gigawatts (GW) to give a boost to its electrical vehicles and renewable energy initiatives, an official said.
