ADB approves $500 mn for Tamil Nadu water supply, sewerage, drainage infrastructure

The board of directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved financing of up to $500 million for a multi-tranche financing facility (MFF) that will develop climate-resilient water supply, sewerage, and drainage infrastructure in at least 10 cities in Tamil Nadu. Reverse bidding in renewable energy sector to continue

The government will not accept any unreasonable bids for renewables like solar and wind and continue to conduct auctions via reverse bidding as it is transparent, Union Minister R K Singh said Tuesday. 

The statement assumes significance as the renewable energy ministry has planned to auction 61 GW of renewables capacity in 2018-19 and 56 GW in 2019-20.

Triton to set up solar battery plant in Andhra Pradesh

US-based Triton Solar Company has agreed to set up a solar batteries manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh under public-private-partnership (PPP) model and has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board. NIT Goa to be India’s 1st fully solar-powered technical institute

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa, has received funding of Rs 497 crore from the Union human resource development (HRD) ministry for construction of the first phase of its permanent campus at Cuncolim. PAT-1 cycle exceeds its energy saving targets by 30%

The first cycle of the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme has exceeded it’s goals and resulted in a saving of ₹ 9,500 crore to participating industries.

Speaking at an event to report the savings accrued under the first cycle, Minister for Power and Renewable Energy, R K Singh said that PAT-1 has overshot it’s targeted energy savings by 30 per cent.

Cochin Smart Mission signs pact with BHEL for solar power project

 Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) has entered into an agreement with Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL) for installation of rooftop solar system for select government buildings.

Acme commissions 200 MW solar plant at Bhadla in Rajasthan

Independent power producer Acme Friday said it has commissioned its 200 megawatt (mw) solar power plant at Bhadla in Rajasthan.

NHPC to develop 40 MW solar power project in Odisha for Rs 1.96 billion

Hydropower generation company NHPC Ltd will put up a 40-Mw solar plant in Odisha with an investment of about Rs 1.96 billion.

SBI to go green! 10,000 ATMs to run on solar power in next two years

In line with the Modi government's push to reduce carbon footprints, India's largest public sector lender has said it plans to install solar panels on around 10,000 of its ATMs in the next two years. The bank also plans to replace its huge fleet of vehicles with electric ones across India by 2030.
