Green City Mission: Rs 50 lakh each for all 125 municipalities in West Bengal

Under its Green City Mission, the West Bengal government is set to handover an initial funding of Rs 50 lakh each to all the 125 municipalities of the state. This is part of the project under which New Town near Kolkata will reportedly be built as the country’s first ever ‘green city’.

Azure Power completes first phase of 14 MW Delhi Metro solar installation

Azure Power, a developer of renewable energy projects based in India, has completed phase one of a 14 MW solar rooftop project for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Azure was awarded the contract to supply the Indian capital’s metro network with solar power at a tariff of INR 5.55/kWh ($0.083/kWh), with a total subsidy of INR 167.4 million ($2.5 million).

ACC and Wisco to build central China’s largest monocrystalline PV rooftop system

Rooftop solar specialist Asia Clean Capital (ACC) has signed a power supply agreement with steel and iron industry firm Wisco Jiangbei Group for a 14MW solar rooftop plant in China.

Dispose off your solid waste according to rules or pay Rs 10,000 fine: NGT

The National Green Tribunal on Monday directed that anybody who was caught disposing of garbage in a public space would be slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000. The tribunal further directed that all the respective authorities were now to be under a statutory obligation to make sure that all the waste was collected, transported and disposed of according to the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 so that this waste does not cause a public hazard. Govt asks pollution watchdogs to get their instruments calibrated to maintain accuracy

‘Silicon Module Super League’ (SMSL) member Trina Solar has set a new world record of 22.61% efficiency for a p-type mono-crystalline cell, with Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) technology at its State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology of China.

Indian scientists generate electricity from water sans using energy

Soon, a device that runs on a few drops of water could revolutionise the way electricity is generated, thanks to a team of scientists at Delhi’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
