China to build world's largest floating solar power plant in major commitment to renewable power

A unit of China Three Gorges Corp. is building a 1 billion yuan (£113 million) floating solar power plant, the world’s biggest, in the nation’s eastern province of Anhui.

NGT directs Delhi Jal Board to submit info on Phase-II of Yamuna cleaning

The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to state the total number of drains falling in the second phase of the Yamuna cleaning project and quality of waste being released into the river.

Wind auction guidelines set minimum plant size at 25 mw

Wind energy projects should have a minimum capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of 22% and will be penalised if they fall below that mark....

CleanMax Solar receives ₹100 crore from IFC

IFC, the private equity investment arm of World Bank, has invested about ₹100 crore ($15 million) in Mumbai-based CleanMaxSolar. This is IFC’s first investment in the rooftop solar space globally. CleanMax Solar puts up plants at its own cost and sells the power directly to customers. In June, CleanMax had announced a $100-million equity investment by PE firm Warburg Pincus, for an undisclosed stake in the company.

Solar pump sets to be provided at subsidy rates to SCs, BCs in Andhra Pradesh

Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh said the State government would supply solar pump sets to SCs and BCs at subsidy rates under NTR Jalasiri scheme.

Reviewing the scheme at meeting with officials at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Monday, Lokesh said the solar pump sets would be given at a price of Rs 6,000 to SCs and Rs 25,000 for BCs against its actual price of Rs 55,000.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to set up 35 dry waste collection and processing centres across Mumbai. Kacheguda has become India's first energy efficient 'A1 Category' railway station on Indian Railways. Kacheguda railway station comes under the South Central Railway (SCR).

Industrial, commercial power tariff likely to come down on states' resolve to cut cross-subsidies

Power rates for commercial and industrial consumers are poised for a drop because states have resolved to prepare a roadmap to reduce cross-subsidies, in line with the Tariff Policy, by March 2018.

The policy as amended in January 2016 provides for lower cross-subsidy at a below 20 per cent level. The cross-subsidy is the difference between the highest and lowest tariffs.
