Spanish company to manage Chennai’s wastes from Thursday

In a move aimed at benefitting 37 lakh people living across seven zones in Chennai city, Spanish firm Urbaser Sumeet is all set to take over solid waste management on an eight-year contract, from October 1. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Wednesday flagged off a fleet of waste management equipment, including 125 compactors, 38 mechanical sweepers, 3,000 e-rickshaws for waste collection and 11,000 compactor dustbins with 10,844 staff.

Power major DVC moots 1,776-MW floating solar projects to add capacity

Uttar Pradesh: Min sets 30-day deadline to reduce power line losses

Lucknow: UP power minister Shrikant Sharma on Monday ordered serving of show cause notice to directors of Madhyanchal and Paschimanchal power distribution companies and chief engineers of 10 districts, including Lucknow and Noida, over poor consumer service, failure to curb line losses and not providing power as per schedule. Coal India invites global bids for coal-to-methanol plant

Govt may impose customs duty on solar equipment soon

NEW DELHI: The ministry of new and renewable energy has asked solar manufacturers to provide a list of machinery and capital goods that should be exempted from basic customs duty (BCD), indicating that the duty may soon be imposed. NEW DELHI: India plans to offer $4.6 billion in incentives to companies setting up advanced battery manufacturing facilities as it seeks to promote the use of electric vehicles and cut down its dependence on oil, according to a government proposal seen by Reuters. Indian Oil to launch cost-effective aluminium-air batteries for EVs

State-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is planning to launch first-of-its-kind aluminium-air batteries that are potentially a more cost-effective alternative to lithium-ion batteries for use in electric vehicles (EV) and stationary applications. Govt extends validity of FAME II certification for all approved electric vehicles by three months

In a letter dated 23 September from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Department of Heavy Industry, the government has informed the extension of validity of certificates for all approved electric two-, three-, and four-wheelers under the FAME II scheme by three months. The validity of the extension will come into effect from 1st October and end on 31st December. The vehicles’ FAME II approval will then need to be re-validated.
