Maharashtra: Sugar mills now want state govt to buy power at higher rates

After seeking government guarantees worth Rs 2,200 crore, Maharashtra’s sugar cooperatives are now pushing for an upward revision in prices of electricity they produce. NTPC to reduce coal supply cost at Kudgi plant with new rail infra

New Delhi: State-owned power giant NTPC on Wednesday said it will soon reduce the cost of coal supplies at Kudgi plant by using a newly constructed rail infrastructure. "NTPC Ltd would be able to reduce the transportation cost of coal to fuel to its NTPC Kudgi Super thermal power station in Karnataka, to around Rs 200-500 per metric tonnes (MT) thereby bringing down the cost of electricity generation. Maharashtra govt yet to decide on rebate plan for inflated power bills

CCEA approves relaxation in working capital lending limit to discoms

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved a one-time relaxation in working capital lending limits by PFC and REC to state distribution companies. Solar industry seeks central government intervention in Andhra Pradesh dispute

NEW DELHI: The solar industry has sought the intervention of the centre and the government of Andhra Pradesh to expedite the legal dispute over the state’s move to renege from signed contracts. In July last year, the state government decided to renegotiate the purchase cost of wind and solar projects already awarded, saying it would not honour power purchase agreements signed by the previous government. The Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) has approved ₹306.07 billion (~$4.09 billion) as of July 31, 2020, as part of the liquidity package announced by the government for eligible distribution companies (DISCOMs). SJVNL to commission 100 MW solar plant in Gujarat

Shimla: Public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) on Monday announced it will commission a 100 MW facility in Gujarat's Dholera Solar Park at an outlay of Rs 450 crore. Gujarat Urja Nigam Ltd had invited bids for 700 MW capacity. The SJVNL got 100 MW capacity at the rate of Rs 2.80 per unit on the build-own-and-operate basis. Tata Power to Help Premier Mumbai Hotels Run on Renewable Energy

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) announced that it signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with TP Kirnali Solar Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited. Under the agreement, Tata would provide renewable energy for IHCL’s Mumbai-based hotels for 25 years. Chandigarh drops plan to buy electric buses for now

In the wake of Covid-19, the UT Administration has suspended the plan to buy electric buses for the time being. Last year, it had floated a tender for purchasing 40 medium-sized buses to reduce air pollution in the city. CHENNAI: India’s electricity generation in the first 15 days of August rose for the first time since early March, provisional government data showed, as the country opened up industries and lifted restrictions to control the spread of coronavirus.
