Telangana to be major base for Electric Vehicles

To reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to encourage and promote usage of Electric Vehicles (EVs) across the State. The Cabinet approved the new Telangana State Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Solution Policy, during the meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan here. Adequate steps not taken against waste dumping in Yamuna at Vrindavan: NGT

The National Green Tribunal Wednesday said adequate steps were not being taken against unregulated dumping of solid waste on the flood plains of the Yamuna in the temple town of Vrindavan.

CDC’s Ayana Renewable snaps up two assets from First Solar

Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd, backed by the UK-based development financial institution CDC Group Plc, said Tuesday it has acquired two solar power plants in Karnataka from First Solar Power India Pvt. Ltd.

The two plants have a total generation capacity of 40 megawatt, Ayana said in a statement. It didn’t disclose financial details of the deal.

Clean energy: Surge in demand for residential solar power connections

Power discoms in Delhi are witnessing a “surge” in residential rooftop solar power connections, with more than half of over 3,700 net metering connections installed in recent years falling under this category, officials said. The BSES discoms have so far energised over 2,700 solar net metering connections in the city, with the highest number of rooftop solar connections in the residential segment (1,526) followed by educational (581) and commercial (473) segments.
