700 Electric Buses To Ply On Uttar Pradesh Roads Under FAME II

Electric vehicles’ lithium-battery policy to incentivise recycling entities

India is in the process of framing a recycling policy for lithium-ion batteries being used in electric vehicles and offer tax sops to recycling entities while imposing a liability on producers to collect used batteries that achieve end of life under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) norms. “It (proposed policy) will have incentives for companies setting up recycling facilities and make it incumbent on producers to collect used batteries,” a senior government official told ET on condition of anonymity. Coal remains main source of energy in Southeast Asia

The energy multinational Wood Mackenzie said in a recent study that coal would remain a major fuel source in Southeast Asia for years to come, its use expected to peak only in 2027. The Indonesian government has set a target of generating 23 percent of its power from renewable sources but has achieved only 12 percent thus far due to widespread dependence on coal. Power ministry issues revised norms for EV charging infra to boost e-mobility

To promote electric vehicles (EV), Power Minister R K Singh on Friday approved amendments in guidelines and specifications for charging infrastructure. These revised guidelines and specifications shall supersede the earlier guidelines and standards issued by the Ministry of Power on December 14, 2018, according to a statement by the Power Ministry. Solar energy: 29 govt colleges pay zero sum on electricity

Taking a major leap in harnessing solar power, state’s 29 government colleges are fulfilling their 100% power needs through solar energy. The solar panels were set up in these colleges in 2017-18 under the previous government to reduce expenditure on power. Until last year, 10 colleges were able to draw power needs from the solar panels but with time the number of colleges has expanded to 60 with 29 meeting all its demand as on September 30, 2019. Policy blues, tariff caps may curtail renewable energy capacity additions: report

Due to policy uncertainty and tariff glitches, the country’s installed capacity in renewable energy (RE) could increase by just 40 GW to 104 GW by fiscal 2022 from 64.4 GW in fiscal 2019, ending about 42 per cent short of Government’s target of 175 GW.
