Sourabh Saini, a delivery driver for Indian online supermarket BigBasket, is thrilled by the attention he gets as he zips around Noida, a satellite city on the outskirts of Delhi, in his three-wheeled electric van.

State Cabinet approves Assam Ethanol Production Promotion Policy 2021

The State Cabinet has approved the Assam Ethanol Production Promotion Policy 2021, said Assam industry and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Thursday.

While addressing a press conference in a city hotel, minister Patowary said: “The State Cabinet has approved the Assam Ethanopl Production Promotion Policy 2021 on August 4.”

Patowary said, “The policy shall be valid up to March 31, 2026.”

Assam is the second state in India to bring out an ethanol policy and is among the pioneers in the line, he said.

Parliamentary panel asks MNRE to set up pilot tidal power project

A Parliamentary panel has asked the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to set up a pilot tidal power project in the country, preferably at a cost effective location like Gulf of Kutch.

There are three main types of ocean energy -- wave, tidal and ocean-thermal. The estimated potential of tidal and wave power in India are 12,455 MW and 41,300 MW, respectively while the potential for ocean-thermal has not been estimated till date, it noted.

Swiggy partners with Reliance BP Mobility to build EV ecosystem

Online food delivery platform Swiggy has partnered with Reliance BP Mobility Limited (RBML) to build an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, the Bengaluru-based company said on August 5, a move in keeping with its ambitious plan to switch to EVs and bring down vehicle costs.

The food delivery startup has also partnered with Hero Lectro, an e-cycle manufacturer, and Fast Despatch Logistics, a last-mile delivery player in the UK, to enable end-to-end delivery of orders through cargo e-cycles. Omega Seiki Mobility announces entry into e-two-wheeler segment

Electric vehicle maker Omega Seiki Mobility on Thursday announced its entry into the two-wheeler segment with the launch of two scooter models -- Zoro and Fiare. Besides, the company also launched its first flagship showroom in Pune, where customers can explore a vehicle digitally, a release said.

The company's entry in the e-two-wheeler space comes in the backdrop of the government modifying its FAME II policy, providing higher incentives for such vehicles -- from a uniform subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kwh for all EVs to Rs 15,000 per kwh for e-two-wheelers in June this year.

New Delhi [India], August 5 (ANI): The Indian government has not operated any civilian flight on bio-fuel till date, said Minister of State for Civil Aviation General (Retired) VK Singh on Thursday.

In a written reply in Lok Sabha regarding the use of bio-fuel in civilian flight in the country, the Minister said, "At present, the price of biofuels is higher than that of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) due to very limited production. Hence, at this stage, operations using bio-fuels do not result in reduced operation costs."

Rural average electricity supply at 22.17 hours a day, 23.36 hours in cities in June 2021: Power Ministry

New Delhi: The average power supply per day was 22.17 hours in rural areas and 23.36 hours in cities during June 2021, Parliament was informed on Thursday. "In June 2021, the average availability of power in the rural areas was 22.17 hours (in a day), and in urban areas, it was 23.36 hours," Power Minister RK Singh said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

As per independent surveys, the availability of power in rural areas has gone up from an average of 12 hours in 2015-16 to 20.50 hours in the year 2020; and in the urban areas, the availability of power has gone up to 22.23 hours... Read more..

The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) launched a blockchain traceability project, partnering with IBM and retailers including H&M (COS Brand), Next and New Look. Mitsui invests $4.1 mln in Indian biomass logistic company - Punjab Renewable Energy Systems

NEW DELHI, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Japanese trader Mitsui & Co will invest 300 million rupees (about $4.1 million) in Punjab Renewable Energy Systems Pvt Ltd, the Indian company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Devidayal Solar signs Rs 1-crore deal with Ashv Finance

New Delhi: Devidayal Solar, a Mumbai-based distributed renewable energy firm, on Wednesday said it has signed a Rs 1-crore deal with Ashv Finance, which enables micro, small businesses to purchase solar refrigerators.

Simple Energy to invest over Rs 350 cr in India in next two years

Electric two-wheeler maker, Simple Energy on Tuesday said it plans to invest over Rs 350 crore in the next two years to increase its footprint in India, including setting up of a manufacturing unit.

Electric vehicle recharging points soon at all Metro stations in Kerala

Kochi: In a major boost to the electric vehicles usage, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has decided to set up electric charging points in all Metro stations.

As a pilot project, KMRL in association with agency for new and renewable energy research and technology (Anert) will set up charging points in four Metro stations soon.

Once found viable, the project will be extended to all the 22 Metro stations.
