Will issue order to make it mandatory for carmakers to introduce flex-fuel engines: Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said he would issue an order in the next two-three days to make it mandatory for the carmakers to introduce flex-fuel engines in vehicles.

Addressing an event, Gadkari said, India imports petroleum products worth 8 lakh crore every year, and if the country continues to depend on fossil fuels, then its import bill will rise to Rs 25 lakh in the next five years.

Emissions and foreign exchange savings due to ethanol blending

The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Rameswar Teli in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today informed that Under the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are selling E10 (10% ethanol blended petrol) as per availability. For the ongoing Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2020-21, OMCs have sold3672.46 crore litres of ethanol blended petrol during the period 01st December, 2020 to 14th November, 2021.

Govt working on plan to securitise revenue of central power plants

The government is working on a proposal to escrow revenue from existing central power plants to utilise it as an upfront amount for new projects. It is also considering listing subsidiaries of power PSUs like NTPC and gradually offloading up to 49 per cent stake in them, a senior official said.

As per the proposal, revenue of ongoing projects can be escrowed in the name of successful bidders for 10-15 years.

MSCI to drop Adani Ports from four climate indices on Carmichael link; Adani Group "disappointed" with move

The MSCI Climate Change Index will drop Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ). This comes as the Carmichael project had been termed ‘severe’. MSCI will also drop REC and IPCA Laboratories from the index while adding six new companies to the list.

Adani Enterprises owns the Carmichael project. Adani Ports became a wholly-owned subsidiary in August 2020 for haulage operations from the Carmichael mine to Adani’s North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT). Earlier in March, the BRC ownership was transferred to Adani Global Pte.

Ambuja Cements, ACC collaborate with IIT Delhi to develop low carbon cement

Mumbai: Ambuja Cements and ACC have partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) to develop next-generation, calcined clay cements, a low carbon material to promote sustainable construction.

This academic collaboration will be implemented through a research project funded by Holcim Innovation Centre, Lyon, France. It will comprise an in-depth scientific study into the influence of clinker, calcined clay and limestone on the performance of calcined clay cements.

South Korea to supply 27.9 million tons of clean hydrogen by 2050

The South Korean government will supply 27.9 million tons of hydrogen annually as 100 per cent clean hydrogen by 2050. It is expected to generate an economic effect of 1,319 trillion won and reduce more than 200 million tons of greenhouse gas.

The government announced on November 26 that five agendas, including the '1st Basic Hydrogen Economy Implement Plan,' were discussed at the 4th Hydrogen Economic Committee meeting presided over by Prime Minister Kim Boo-gyeom at Lotte Hotel Seoul.

No transmission charge waiver for green power projects from July 2028

In a move that can be seen to expedite the installation of renewable energy projects in the next few years, the Union power ministry has said that 100% inter-state transmission (ISTS) charge will be levied on power supplied by solar and plants commissioned on and after July 1, 2028. Currently power distribution companies (discoms) do not have to pay ISTS charges for solar and wind-based electricity, and the waiver was used as an incentive to encourage renewable power capacity addition.

Scheme to cut electrolyser production cost soon: Bhagwanth Khuba

The government will launch a scheme for reducing the cost of production for electrolysers, Bhagwanth Khuba, minister of state for the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) said on Wednesday. Japan's Chubu Electric to boost overseas and renewables investment

Japan's Chubu Electric Power plans to make strategic investments of 1 trillion yen ($8.7 billion) over the 10 years through 2030, mainly in overseas and renewable energy, to achieve its 2030 recurring profit goal of 250 billion yen.
