India 2012: Sustainability Compliance Watch Outs for Indian Industry

Near term sustainability legislation and initiatives would impact the power generation, textile, financial and automobile industries the most among the Indian businesses. According to this survey which studied 34 upcoming initiatives, there are three key insights on near term sustainability implications for a number of Indian industries: a) Regulations dealing with resource conservation and sustainability will become more imposing in the future. b) Voluntary initiatives provide an opportunity for market differentiation c) Number of soft capital schemes in the renewable energy sector are being introduced to catalyze the sector.

India 2011: Preparedness of Indian Public Equities for Business Sustainability (Environmental, Social and Governance) Disclosure and Reporting

The study conducted in November 2011 is based on the disclosure levels of Sensex companies with respect to National Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Business and describes the state of Business Responsibility reporting of large Indian public equities.  It also presents an insight into the current policy framework in India related to Business Responsibility reporting, especially the National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business and elucidates the need and drivers for business sustainability reporting.
