What motivates me: Sustainable consumption has always been a topic of interest for me. Consumption is an area which blends efforts from diverse fields, and is not limited to just environment, market demand or sales. How one can manage the consumption habits and make a difference is where my core motivation comes from.
Journey so far: I have an engineering degree in Environmental Engineering. Then I moved to Sweden to pursue a Masters in Environmental Science. After my masters, I moved to the U.S. to pursue a few more specialized courses and have been working in the field ever since.
Challenges faced so far in the sustainability field: Lack of awareness among consumers is, I guess, the biggest challenge. The moment people start to realize what difference a sustainable consumption lifestyle can make to this planet, the application of such practices automatically start happening.
Advice for sustainability professionals: My suggestion would be to open the mind to different possibilities that this field provides. It should not be limited to your own area of work, but the entire organization and the impact that you (can) create in this world.
